FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Former Razorback Joe Johnson would have loved to spend his summer in Beijing competing for Olympic gold, but it looks as if his services won't be needed. The U.S. Olympic team was announced, and Johnson was named as one of five alternates.
Former Hog Chosen As Olympic Basketball Alternate"It meant a lot. I got a chance to play the first time, but last summer I was injured and that kind of set me back a bit. With them having so much success last year, they stayed with the same team they had. I'm happy for them, and I hope they bring home the gold," Johnson said.
Johnson currently plays in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks.
