BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- The race for Benton County judge is the most competitive judge's race this year. With five contestants vying to become the Republican candidate, it is the most competitive in Benton County this primary season. With five candidates, it is highly unlikely that one of the candidates will walk away with the majority of the votes.Former state senator David Bisbee led the pack Tuesday night with 37 percent of the vote with 81 percent of precincts reporting. None of the five candidates won the majority of the vote so David Bisbee and Bill Adams, who had 26 percent of the votes, will face off in a June 10 runoff.
Bisbee said leadership is a real issue in the county and cites his experience as a longtime state senator. He said he is ready to take a job where he can settle down and really get to work in the county. Both candidates said they are ready and focused."Everybody know what the county judges job is. It hasn't changed. It's a leadership role. It's about budget, roads, leadership," Bisbee said."The biggest thing as we go into the next three weeks is to go out and meet every voter we can to let them know we have a plan to do better road construction, reduce the size of government and improve efficiency of our government," Adams said.Democrat Bill Williams of Bella Vista was uncontested in the primary, and Tuesday night's Republican primary winner will face him in the November general election.
