Tontitown Bank Robbed Tuesday Morning

TONTITOWN, Ark. -- First Federal Bank in Tontitown on Henri de Tonti Boulevard was robbed early Tuesday morning.
Tontitown Bank Robbed Tuesday MorningWashington County Sheriff Deputy Morgan said the robber was a black male, wearing a scarf around his face, jeans, and a hoodie, and brandishing a black handgun. He was described to police as being approximately 5 feet nine inches tall and speaking in a raspy voice.
The robber entered the bank just after opening at approximately 7:12 a.m. He approached the two female bank employees present at the time and demanded money. They gave him an unknown amount of money. He then walked them to the bank’s safe and locked them inside, Morgan said.He then departed in a silver passenger car that may have been a Dodge Stratus, Morgan said.The two employees who were locked in the safe were not able to activate the alarm before being locked in the safe. Approximately 30 minutes after the robbery, a third employee arrived at the bank and discovered the other two locked in the safe.At that point, the third employee called the police.The case is being investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Police Department, Springdale Police Department and the FBI.40/29 News will bring you more information as soon as it is available.
