On Sunday, the 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith held a ceremony for a change of command.

Local Fighter Wing Has A New Commander

Col. Thomas Anderson, the former vice commander for the 188th, took over duties as the new commander and leader.

Anderson started his career as vice commander with the 188th in May 2006.

Family, friends and colleagues gathered in the 188th Fighter Wing's hanger and welcomed the new Commander and said goodbye to Col. Kevin Wear.

Wear assumed command of the 188th Fighter Wing in May of 2006, also serving as vice commander from August 2001 through November 2005.

Through his time with the 188th, Wear lead his team through BRAC and the transition of the F-16 to A-10.

Wear is now retired and says he looks forward to spending more time with family. "I don't think I'm going to own a blackberry anymore and maybe a little more golf and fishing in the future," said Wear.
