Sebastian County Reconsiders Waste Deal

New Contract Would Raise Customer Bills

Higher rates are forcing some River Valley residents to reconsider who hauls away their trash.

The Sebastian County Quorum Court is considering whether to renew the county’s contract with Waste Management. Re-signing the deal would raise customer costs by more than $2 per month.

The company cited higher diesel fuel costs as a reason for the price spike.

Waste Management’s contract with the county expired at the end of June. County officials agreed to review the matter and take public comments for 30 days before making a decision.
