NCAA Game Summary - North Texas At Arkansas State

(Sports Network) - Corey Leonard threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Thompkins with just two seconds left, giving the Arkansas State Indians a 31-27 come from behind victory over the North Texas Mean Green in Sun Belt Conference play at Indian Stadium.

Leonard completed 25-of-50 tosses for 305 yards and two scores in the game, although he was also picked off twice. Thompkins hauled in seven balls for 107 yards and the one score, while Levi Dejohnette posted nine catches for 108 yards. Reggie Arnold led the ground game with 75 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, as Arkansas State (5-6, 3-4 SBC) improved to 5-1 at home.

Micah Mosley led the way for North Texas (1-9, 1-5) with 78 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Jamario Thomas carried 11 times for 64 yards and he scored twice for the Mean Green, which dropped its fourth game in a row. Quarterback Giovanni Vizza threw for just 160 yards and an interception, but he did run for 79 yards on 17 totes.

North Texas opened the game's scoring with a Thomas four-yard touchdown run at the 9:44 mark of the first quarter.

Just three seconds into the second period, the Mean Green made it a 14-0 contest behind a two-yard touchdown run by Mosley.

At the 3:10 point of the second quarter, North Texas added to its lead courtesy of another four-yard touchdown run by Thomas.

Arkansas State finally got on the board with 1:37 left in the first half, as Preston Brown scampered 30 yards for a score.

It didn't take long for the Indians to strike in the second half, as Arnold rumbled 15 yards for a touchdown at the 12:39 mark of the third quarter.

With just 13 seconds left in the frame, Josh Arauco nailed a 33-yard field goal to pull Arkansas State within four points.

Thomas Moreland kicked a 28-yard field goal with 11:07 to go in regulation, pushing the Mean Green's lead to 24-17. Moreland added a 37-yard field goal at the 7:08 mark and North Texas led by 10 points.

Arkansas State, however, refused to go away and it pulled within three points on Leonard six-yard touchdown pass to J.T. Jordan with 5:15 remaining.

With 1:18 to play, North Texas had a chance to push its lead to seven points, but Moreland missed a 26-yard field goal attempt.

Leonard than led the Indians on a 10-play, 80-yard drive that was capped with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Thompkins with just two ticks left on the clock.

Arkansas State rolled up 480 yards of total offense in the game, while North Texas gained 381 yards.
