Denton, TX -- (Sports Network) - Adam McCoy was a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor, finishing the game with 21 points as he led the sixth-seeded North Texas Mean Green to a convincing, 85-63 victory over the 11th-seeded Arkansas State Indians in first round action of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Keith Wooden added 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for North Texas (20-10), which will move on to the quarterfinal round to take on the third-seeded Western Kentucky Hilltoppers this Sunday. Ben Bell and Josh White both contributed 12 points apiece, while Bell also dished out six assists. Adrian Banks posted 17 points for Arkansas State (10-20), while Ryan Wedel tallied 14 points in the losing effort. The Mean Green shot a sizzling 60.9 percent from the floor in the first half and went into the break with a strong 38-31 lead. In the second stanza, North Texas limited ASU to a pathetic 33.3 percent effort from the field en route to the lopsided 22-point victory. North Texas' bench poured in 34 points in the contest, while Arkansas State's reserves tallied just 11 points.
